Mountain Area Medical Airlift – MAMA is a regional service of Mission Hospital, Inc. and is designed to provide helicopter medical services primarily to the Western North Carolina area. Additionally, air medical services are offered to the upstate of South Carolina, Northeast Georgia and eastern Tennessee. MAMA responds to requests per the existing North Carolina Air Medical Association’s Mutual Aid agreement. The service area, however extends in a 150 mile radius of Asheville and Franklin, and is available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. MAMA will provide helicopter transport to the critically ill or injured with the expertise of the flight team for patients in the service area, where time, specialized resources and the quality of transportation is crucial to the patient’s survival and outcome. The Adult/Peds team will transport a patient population for admission to adult and pediatric services. The Infant Transport team will care for infants based on weight and age per current policy.
Regional Transport Service is the ground based transport system operated by Mission Health. Operating up to 17 transport vehicles providing care for Behavioral Health, BLS, ALS and Specialty Care Transport across the entire life span.
Mission Health also provides 911 emergency response services, under contract, to Madison County, Mitchell County and Yancey County in North Carolina.
